The Dux Farm Project is progressing well, and the Kirks are starting to see the fruits of their labour over the last 18 months

The refurbishment of pretty Dux Cottage was completed in October 2022, ready for Janine's parents to move into and at last call home. 

The builders then moved onto Dux Farmhouse which turned out to be a real challenge in so many ways - too many twists and turns to bore you with here, but it is an amazing result!

The Kirks eventually took up residence in June 2023.

Meanwhile over the following months the Groundworkers and other Contractors, have been busy making changes to road layouts, constructing a 9 bay car park with new main access, and upgrading farm buildings, laying patios, erecting new gates, walls and fences, re-digging the pond creating an island and clearing years of undergrowth, creating a 4,000ltr rain water reservoir for irrigating the grounds.

By chance the original Farmhouse Well dating back to the 1700's was uncovered, much to Ian and Janine's delight - this is to be re-instated back into working order.

The chickens have moved to their new home in the woods and more chickens are on the way. Free Range farm eggs are on sale now.

The roosting barn owl family is now back in their owl home box, under the car port. Two babies were born in Summer 2023 and they flew the nest in September.

Now the pond is re-established the moorhens have moved back in and they had babies in June. 

Ducks drop in on a daily basis to see what's on offer.

When walking through the woods, Janine has sighted rabbits playing and a deer family grazing on leaves and sedges, next year Ian and Janine will be introducing pheasants to the woods, and creating tranquil woodland walks for guests to enjoy.

The first woodland walk has now been completed ready for 2024

Planning consent was granted for the three luxury glamping pods which are now due for delivery in Spring 2024 ready for the holiday letting season.

The building of the swimming pool has been scrapped due to budget restraints, but the conservatory housing the Jacuzzi Spa, Sauna and Changing Room, along with the Laundry should be ready late Spring 2024. 

Work starts on converting the old workshop into a Guest Barn/Games Room shortly and this should also be completed by Summer 2025

The really exciting news is that Higher Dux the detached converted and refurbished original piggery dating back to 1825 has been accepting holiday bookings from July 2023.

In Autumn 2023 ground works were completed in the meadow that will be home to the three glamping pods. This includes the infrastructure of drains, water and electricity supply.
